Across virtually every sector, the pandemic has meant an acceleration in digital transformation by months or even years. Digital transformation was already central to growth strategies and operating models, but organizations had to be careful about how quickly they introduced new technology to ensure all customers would be ready for the change. By forcing everyone to embrace digital technologies, the pandemic has erased many of these barriers, and the transition to digital business models has gone into ‘warp speed.’
By looking at what’s happening in other sectors, public libraries can learn the best ways to take advantage of this shift and accelerate their digital transformation. What are leading organizations doing to take advantage of this sudden digital acceleration, and how can public libraries benefit from applying the same strategies? At the same time, many barriers to embracing digital technology still remain and have been exacerbated by the pandemic. How do libraries need to adapt strategies from other sectors to reflect that reality?
